Although vaccines were mentioned, they were not included among the major factors.(3)

Questa affermazione si trova in vari siti di antivaccinisti e di medici "naturalisti". Se si controlla l'edizione 48 del MMWR del 30 luglio 1999, pagine 621 - 628 da loro citata come fonte, si può constatare che le vaccinazioni vengono non solo menzionate ma gli si da giustamente molta importanza.

Citazione originale: "Disease control resulted from improvements in sanitation and hygiene, the discovery of antibiotics, and the implementation of universal childhood vaccination programs."

Nelle spiegazioni più dettagliate appaiono al secondo posto, dopo la voce "sanitation and hygiene".
